KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- The retail price of RON97 remains at RM4.90 per litre, while unsubsidised RON95 and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia each rise by five sen for the period May 7 to 13.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) informed that the retail price of unsubsidised RON95 is set at RM4.02 per litre compared to RM3.97 previously, while diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has risen to RM5.17 per litre compared to RM5.12 last week.
During the same period, the government maintains targeted subsidised prices for the public and certain sectors, covering RON95 (BUDI95) at RM1.99 per litre, diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre, the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) at RM2.05 per litre, and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.15 per litre.
MOF explained that the price adjustment is based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula, which takes into account the average price of the previous week.
"Petroleum prices remain above USD100 per barrel because the West Asia conflict remains unresolved.
"This situation is also creating global supply constraints for crude oil and petroleum products, and the problem is becoming more acute as production and refining facilities in the region suffer damage," MOF stated.
Therefore, the MADANI Government calls on the public to continue using fuel prudently to help safeguard the nation's supply stability.
