JASIN, May 16 (Bernama) -- The Melaka state government plans to introduce a new approach to aquaculture through a high-technology tilapia farming project using Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) in the district.
State Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said the project would be implemented in phases, involving the development of hatchery and grow-out facilities using smart technology systems.
He said a proposal seeking about RM3 million in government funding for the project had been submitted and, if approved, implementation would begin in Jasin.
“Implementation will start at one location to assess its effectiveness,” he told reporters after the launch of the Melaka Livestock QR Tagging Programme at Lembah Kesang, Seri Mendapat, here today.
He said the project would be expanded to other locations, possibly as early as next year, once the system was fully operational.
