Malaysia's Ambassador To France Calls Bernama Nation's Trusted Media Institution

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) has played an important role in disseminating information that is accurate, verified, and credible to the people in nearly six decades since its establishment, said Ambassador of Malaysia to France, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim.

On the occasion of the news agency’s 59th anniversary, he described the agency as a credible and trusted media institution of the country that also serves as the main medium for introducing government policies and aspirations to the international community.

The ambassador said Bernama also helps Malaysian ambassadors and embassies abroad in communicating various international activities and programmes, including fostering bilateral relations, Malaysia’s involvement in the United Nations (UN) and ASEAN, and coverage of official visits by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, ministers, and senior government officials.

“In today’s world faced with an information overload and the challenge of false news, the role of a credible media institution such as Bernama has become increasingly significant.

“I believe the credibility and professionalism shown by Bernama staff over the years has placed the agency among the respected media institutions of our country,” he said.

The ambassador also expressed his appreciation to all Bernama staff for their dedication and commitment in providing the people with steady access to fast, accurate, and responsible reporting.

“May Bernama continue to prosper, excel, and be relevant in facing the challenges of an increasingly dynamic media landscape, and continue to be a voice trusted by the people and the country,” he said.

Established under the Bernama Act 1967, Bernama began operation on May 20, 1968, and remains the country’s main news agency, providing news content in various languages and platforms.
