KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) -- The Sepakat Korban Kasih MADANI 2026 programme held in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency today strengthened efforts to reach out to the community through worship and welfare initiatives in conjunction with Aidiladha.
Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the programme combined the implementation of the ‘korban’ or sacrifice ritual, a community feast and the Sejahtera MADANI initiative, which focused on the distribution of assistance to those in need.
“A total of 210 eKasih recipients categorised as poor will receive two kilogrammes of fresh beef, a tray of chicken eggs and headscarf contributions from Persatuan Kesejahteraan Rakyat Malaysia (PKRM) as a sign of continuous and comprehensive care,” she said when speaking at the programme held at the Saidina Othman Ibn Affan Mosque in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras here.
Dr Wan Azizah, who is also the wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, also contributed 10 cattle for the korban programme and distribution to the local community.
The programme was further enlivened by the organisation of a community feast, in which volunteers worked together to prepare meals before serving the aid recipients.
One of the recipients, Zarjan Menawar Shah, 61, became emotional upon receiving the contribution and described it as an unexpected blessing.
“Only Allah can reward such kindness. I regard this contribution as a great blessing. My deepest thanks go to all the contributors, especially Dr Wan Azizah,” she said.
A volunteer from the Prime Minister’s Department Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU JPM) assigned to prepare the sacrificial meat, Amarul Hisham Jamil, 32, said the opportunity to participate in the programme was a meaningful experience and served as an excellent platform to strengthen ties within the community.
“I am very happy because opportunities like this are rare. I hope activities such as these can be expanded so that we can extend assistance and reach out to more families in need, especially those in the asnaf group,” he said.
Organised by the ICU JPM Welfare and Sports Club, the programme involved 52 ICU JPM personnel in carrying out the korban ritual, with support from about 150 workers and volunteers, and attended by more than 2,000 members of the local community.
The programme also received support from various strategic partners, including PKRM, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department, the Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Service Centre, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA).
