Jaslinda Thanks Media, Perak To Consider SAR Team Incentives - Exco

TAPAH, June 8 (Bernama) -- Jaslinda Saludin, 49, has thanked media practitioners for their daily coverage of the search and rescue (SAR) operation prior to her being found safe on Saturday, according to Perak Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi.

He said that regular media updates help ensure accurate news is conveyed and speculation is countered.

“Jaslinda said she had a whistle with her in the forest and frequently used it. She heard helicopters flying past and also found notes from the SAR team.

“She was heading in the opposite direction after the team had already passed through, before she came across the note,” he told reporters after visiting Jaslinda at Tapah Hospital, here today.

Also present were State Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman Datuk A. Sivanesan and Tapah Hospital director Dr Wan Immi Salim.

Meanwhile, Mohd Azlan said the state government is expected to deliberate on incentives for the SAR team at the forthcoming state exco meeting.

“This matter (the provision of incentives for the SAR team) may be discussed with the Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad). We will wait for an announcement from the Menteri Besar,” he said.

Jaslinda was found exhausted near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh at about 5 pm by members of the Orang Asli community.

She was reported missing during a Trans Spencer Chapman hike on May 23 along the Pos Gedung–Gunung Bah Gading–Gunung Batu Putih–Kuala Woh trail, which involved 13 others and two Forestry Department Mountain guides.
