Fahmi Continues Ziarah Kasih Programme, Visits Senior Citizens

KUALA PILAH, June 13 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today continued his Ziarah Kasih programme by visiting two senior citizens with health challenges in Seri Menanti here.

He visited Umi Kalsum Adam, 70, who suffers from nerve issues and chronic mouth inflammation, as well as Hussin Tahir, 94, who has nerve and hearing problems and is wheelchair-bound.

Fahmi also presented contributions to the two families as a gesture of the government's concern for people’s welfare.

Speaking to reporters later, Fahmi said the Ziarah Kasih programme remains a crucial way for leaders to assess the actual conditions of people at the grassroots level.

“This initiative is important. As the Prime Minister often emphasises, ministers must go down to the field to see the situation for themselves to ensure that benefits effectively reach the target groups,” he said.

Fahmi added that the initiative will be sustained through the MADANI Community network to streamline the delivery of assistance and more effectively identify public needs.

Meanwhile, Hussin, a former muezzin, expressed deep appreciation for the visit and the contribution.

“Thank you for being willing to come all the way to our village... I am very touched,” he said.

Following the welfare visits, Fahmi spent time at the Kuala Pilah Rakan Muda Complex, engaging with more than 350 sports participants at the Pilah Sejahtera Carnival.

Various sporting events were held at the complex grounds, including sepak takraw, netball, and football penalty kick competitions.
