KOTA BHARU, June 17 (Bernama) -- A total of 14 families affected by a fire in Kampung Gok Kapur here on June 8 have been housed in temporary rented homes while 13 other families chose to stay temporarily with their relatives.

Kelantan Social Welfare Department director Che Samsuzuki Che Noh said all 110 victims who were previously housed at the relief centre in Masjid Mukim Banggol have left on June 12 after housing arrangements were settled following discussions and agreements with the families concerned.

“The relief centre was officially closed at 5 pm, June 12 after all victims were successfully resettled in comfortable conditions,” he told Bernama toay, adding that the state government had announced rental aid for three months for the victims affected, while the Health Ministry had begun fogging operations in the fire site as a public health risk preventive measure.

The local authorities in Bachok, Ketereh and Kota Bharu will begin clean up work at the fire site tomorrow to ensure that the area is clean and safe, he added.

On June 8, 27 houses were destroyed in a fire in  Kampung Gok Kapur, and the cause of the fire is still being determined.
