PUTRAJAYA, June 25 (Bernama) -- Nearly 31 per cent or 13,309 individuals have successfully reentered the workforce as a result of the labour market interventions implemented by the government, according to the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) today.
In today's statement, KESUMA said that the government's priority is not only focused on monitoring and managing job loss issues but also ensuring that affected individuals can regain employment through various comprehensive and effective labour market interventions.
Based on the statistics from the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) up to June 12, a total of 13,309 individuals or 31 per cent of the total job losses this year have successfully returned to employment.
"The number is part of the 62,644 job placements successfully realised through the MYFutureJobs portal, reflecting the effectiveness of the job matching efforts implemented.
"The focus of KESUMA is to help the people return to work, not just to record job losses," according to the statement.
KESUMA said most individuals who were successfully placed obtained jobs in the services sector, followed by the manufacturing sector and the construction sector, thus reflecting the continued strong demand for labour in the country's main economic sectors.
To enhance the employability and competitiveness of the workforce in line with current labour market needs, PERKESO continues to strengthen the implementation of upskilling and reskilling programmes.
"(It is implemented) to help jobseekers acquire new skills that are relevant to industry demands," said the statement.
So far, KESUMA said that there are a total of 2,697 Insured Persons (OB) have had their applications approved to participate in the offered upskilling and reskilling programmes.
"The majority of participants have taken courses in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), followed by programmes related to the wholesale and retail trade sector and skills certification that meet the needs of the manufacturing industry.
"That achievement proves the effectiveness of various initiatives led by KESUMA through its agencies in ensuring that affected individuals can return to earning an income and continue their lives.
"In addition to skills enhancement and retraining programmes, PERKESO also provides job matching services through the MYFutureJobs platform, career counselling services, job mobility assistance, and social protection under the Employment Insurance System (SIP)," according to the statement.
KESUMA continues to strengthen the employability of the national workforce via various talent and skills development programmes led by PERKESO, HRD Corp, TalentCorp, the Department of Skills Development (JPK) and the Department of Human Resources (JTM), in line with industry needs and current economic changes.
"The implementation of various government initiatives, including the Progressive Acceleration for Capability and Employment (PACE) Economic Resilience Package 2026, also helps to expand job opportunities, enhance workforce skills, and expedite the resettlement of affected workers.
"KESUMA will continue to proactively monitor labour market developments and work closely with employers, industries, and strategic partners to ensure more quality job opportunities are created for the people," added the statement.
