Six MRSM Students To Be Expelled If Found Guilty Of Bullying - MARA Chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 (Bernama) -- Six MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) students in Johor who were arrested on suspicions of bullying a fellow student will be expelled if they are found guilty, MARA Chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said.

He shared that he had instructed MARA's Secondary Education Division (BPM) and the MRSM administration to convene the College Disciplinary Committee meeting immediately.

“The meeting must be held within the next 24 hours to conduct an investigation and take the sternest possible action against any students found to be involved. If they are proven guilty, they must be expelled from MRSM.

“I am deeply saddened, regretful and disappointed to learn of an alleged bullying incident at an MRSM in Johor,” he posted on Facebook tonight.

The case only came to light after the parents of the victim, a 14-year-old boy, shared their experience on social media, revealing that their child had requested to leave the MRSM because he could no longer endure the suffering caused by the bullying, he added.

The incident was now under police investigation after the victim's parents lodged a report, he said, adding that the six Form Five students have been remanded for two days to assist in the investigation.

“Whatever the reason given, bullying or taking matters into one's own hands under the pretext of 'disciplining' junior students is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“I want to reiterate the stand that I have repeatedly stressed to the entire MRSM community: 'YOU TOUCH, YOU GO.' Anyone proven to have committed bullying has no place in MRSM. There will be no compromise and no place for bullies in MRSM,” he stressed.

Asyraf also urged all MRSM students not to be afraid to report any bullying incidents immediately to teachers, wardens or the school administration, and not to choose to leave school simply because they had become victims.

“I also wish to warn that if anyone attempts to conceal or protect those involved in bullying, MARA will not hesitate to take the appropriate action,” he added.
