KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- U Mobile Sdn Bhd has successfully migrated to its own nationwide ULTRA5G network after exiting the wholesale access agreement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB).

In a statement today, the telecommunications company stated that the transition is expected to give the company greater flexibility to deliver unparalleled customer experiences beyond connectivity through its superior network, differentiated products and services, and continued innovation.

It said that since commencing its 5G rollout in July 2025, U Mobile has achieved more than 85 per cent coverage of populated areas (CoPA), earning recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for the fastest 5G network rollout in the country.

U Mobile has also made significant investments in in-building coverage (IBC), enabling a more seamless 5G experience in locations.

“U Mobile has deployed more than 190 IBC sites nationwide and remains on track to expand this to over 600 sites, further strengthening the country’s widest and deepest 5G experience across both outdoor and indoor environments.

“Separately, U Mobile has also secured RM4.3 billion in syndicated financing from a consortium of leading local and international financial institutions to support the continued expansion and enhancement of its network, reinforcing its long-term commitment to delivering high-quality connectivity across Malaysia,” it said.

The telco said that the transition follows its exit from its wholesale access agreement with DNB, effective July 1, 2026.

It noted that the wholesale arrangement had been maintained as an interim measure to ensure continuity of 5G services while U Mobile accelerated the rollout of its own network.

The migration was carried out progressively, and all customers have now been transitioned to U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network, it said.
