29/06/2024 04:39 PM

NIBONG TEBAL, June 29 (Bernama) -- Selangor FC player Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim, also known as Faisal Halim, has started doing light exercises besides continuing his physiotherapy sessions, said his father Abdul Halim Saad.

He said that Faisal, 26, has shown positive progress day by day, with his recovery now reaching nearly 95 percent.

Abdul Halim noted that the full support from the Selangor FC management, friends and family has also been a source of strength for him to recover quickly.

"Thanks to the Selangor FC management for giving him full attention. His mental strength is solid because his heart is in football... he is not thinking about anything else and just wants to return to playing football," he told Bernama when attending the MADANI Football Clinic at Padang Awam Jawi here today.

According to Abdul Halim, Faisal and the rest of the family do not dwell on what happened and have come to terms with the incident that befell his son.

Meanwhile, Kelab DNA Faisal Halim president Ammar Muhammad Pauzi, who was also present at the event, said the football clinic was organised in collaboration with SK Jawi, SK Sungai Bakap, and Kelab Akademi Wira Muda to uncover talents among the youth and nurture football players like Faisal Halim.

This initiative is in line with the earlier announcement by Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, who wants the club to tour each district, bringing its football module to teach children around the state.

"Today's programme received an encouraging response with the attendance reaching 250 participants consisting of children aged seven to 12. At the same time, we also show solidarity for Faisal Halim as a sign of support and hope that his spirit will inspire the participants today, leading to the emergence of more players like Faisal Halim," he said.

On May 5, Faisal, known as Mickey to fans, suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body after being attacked with acid by an unknown assailant at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara, Selangor.

On May 25, Selangor FC confirmed in a statement that Faisal was discharged from a private hospital after undergoing four surgeries.
