Muhammad Akhyar TFC's Hero In Victory Over Negeri Sembilan

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Winger Muhammad Akhyar Abdul Rashid helped Terengganu FC (TFC) come from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Negeri Sembilan FC in the Super League 2024/2025 season tonight.

The match, held at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak, saw the home team stunned by the opening goal from Spanish import Mika Junco, who headed in a cross from Japanese midfielder Takumi Sasaki in the 16th minute.

Shaken by the goal, the Turtles launched a series of attacks on the visitors' goal, and winger Muhammad Safawi Rasid managed to level the score with a free-kick in the second minute of injury time in the first half.

On resumption, Terengganu took the lead with a header from Nigerian forward Nnabuike Chukwu Chijioke in the 49th minute but a lapse in the home team's defence allowed Senegalese midfielder Jacque Faye to score from close range, making it 2-2 just four minutes later.

Nevertheless, Croatian player Marin Pilj’s movement found Muhammad Akhyar, who used his left foot to score the winning goal for Tomislav Steinbruckner’s team in the 59th minute.

The third win of the season allowed Terengganu FC to overtake Sabah FC and move into third place with 11 points, while Negeri Sembilan FC remain stuck at the bottom of the league with three points.

Meanwhile, Kuching City FC's comeback in the second half led to their first away win of the season, defeating Perak FC 2-1 at the Perak Stadium, Ipoh.

A shot from outside the penalty area by captain Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor put the hosts ahead in the 7th minute, but a header from import player Jordan Mintah equalised for Kuching City in the 69th minute.

Ivory Coast striker Tchetche Kipre emerged as the hero for Aidil Sharin Sahak's squad with a goal in the 76th minute, ensuring they climbed to fourth place in the league with 10 points.

Perak FC’s fifth defeat of the season leaves them in ninth place with six points.
