KUCHING, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Members of the public and youths stand a chance to win cash prizes totalling RM15,500 in photography and videography contests organised in conjunction with the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024.
Sarawak Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the contests, which run from Aug 12 to 24, feature three categories - open photography, youth photography and videography - for youths comprising students of schools and higher education institutions in Malaysia.
“For the open photography category, the top three prizes are RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000, with five consolation prizes of RM200 each.
“For the youth and videography categories, the winner will receive RM2,000, second place is worth RM1,000 and third place RM750, with five consolation prizes of RM100 each,” he said at the launch of the SUKMA 2024 Application here today.
Registrations can be made online for free at https://forms.gle/GVqC3y9cXXvSuzfR7. Participants need to upload videos or photographs first on Facebook and TikTok accounts, accompanied by the #SUKMASARAWAK2024 handle.
Abdul Karim said print and online media practitioners on duty throughout the games can also win RM100 daily in the 'Picture & Article of the Day' contest from Aug 16 to 25.
“The best photograph and article selected daily will be displayed in a special area of the Main Media Room at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, which will be launched tomorrow,” he said. He said the contests are organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Kuching Division Journalists’ Association.
The terms and conditions of the contests can be obtained by scanning the QR code at the official SUKMA 2024 website www.sukmasarawak2024.my or the official Facebook of UKAS.
Also present at the launch were Sarawak Deputy State Secretary and SUKMA chief executive officer Datuk Hii Chang Kee and Sarawak State Sports Council director Awang Putra Yusrie.
SUKMA 2024 features 37 sports involving 488 events, which will be staged in nine divisions - Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu and Miri.
Since its inception in 1986, SUKMA has been held in Sarawak twice, in 1990 and 2016.
