SIBU, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- The Selangor men’s volleyball team took the gold medal at the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in style after sweeping past the Federal Territories (FT) 3-0 in the final at the Rejang Park Volleyball Court here today.
Coached by Shamsaimon Mohd Sarit, Selangor came out strong, quickly establishing their dominance with a 25-14 win in the first set.
FT, led by Ong Chun Keong, fought back fiercely in the second set, pushing Selangor all the way, but Selangor’s resilience secured them a 25-22 victory, putting them firmly in control.
The third set was a thrilling back-and-forth battle but Selangor’s consistency pulled them through as they sealed the match with a 25-17 win for the coveted gold medal.
Defending champions Sarawak clinched the bronze medal after a 3-0 win over Johor in the third-place playoff yesterday.
