23/12/2024 06:50 PM

IPOH, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Perak FC general manager Neow Choo Seong has announced his resignation from the team, effective Jan 1, 2025.

He said that holding the position has given him the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the challenges and issues within the local football industry.

"With a heavy heart, I would like to announce that I do not intend to extend my tenure as general manager. I will also be stepping down from my role as Director of Perak FC, effective Jan 1, 2025.

"I will always wish the best for the team and its supporters. Moving forward, I look forward to watching Perak FC matches from the stands alongside fellow fans," he said in a Facebook post today.

Neow said that since joining Perak FC in 2023, his primary focus had been on youth development and grassroots programmes.

Neow highlighted that during his tenure, various grassroots programmes were introduced, including District Training Centres (DTCs), the Grassroots Playday Festival, the Cheetah Cup, and the XOX Cup.

"For example, earlier this year, we also established the Perak FC Football Academy to train young talents under the age of 15.

"They have shown remarkable progress, even winning the Plate category in the Under-12 International Invitational Tournament recently," he said.

Neow credited this success to the dedication of the players and the structured training modules implemented by Perak FC Technical Director Raja Azlan Raja So'ib and his team of coaches, who have sacrificed time and effort.

He expressed confidence that Perak have many talented young players and hopes that Perak FC’s management will continue to nurture and provide opportunities for these emerging talents.

On July 31, Perak FC Chief Executive Officer Bobie Farid Shamsudin shocked fans when he announced his resignation via Facebook, citing frustrations with the football industry.
