League Leaders THT Gun Down Armed Forces 6-1 To Maintain Winning Streak

KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) continued their relentless winning streak by gunning down Armed Forces 6-1 in a Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) match at the Batu Buruk Hockey Stadium, here today.

The victory allowed the Turtles to maintain their unbeaten tun and grip as the league leader with 15 points from five consecutive wins in as many matches.

Sensational striker Faizal Saari emerged as THT's hero when he scored four goals while the other two goals were contributed by national player, Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook.

THT started aggressively and struck first as early as the second minute through a field goal by Faizal before Mohamad Akhimullah added the second in the seventh minute.

Faizal blasted home his second personal goal and THT's third through a field goal in the 34th minute before Mohamad Akhimullah added another to put the hosts in a comfortable lead.

The visitors who were trailing 0-4, refused to give in and staged a gallant fightback and in the second quarter, Mohd Yazid Yahya's squad had two golden chances, but failed to complete both.

However, in the 38th minute though, Muhamad Nazrey Din managed to score and raise some hope but the joy of the visitors did not last long as Faizal proved his lethal touch by scoring two more goals in the 46th and 48th minutes for THT to win 6-1.

THT, who are also the champions of this season's Charity Shield (Piala Sumbangsih), will face a club from China, Liaoning Men's HT on Jan 20.
