KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- Rising mixed doubles pair, Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin, must seize the opportunity to clinch their maiden World Tour title at the 2025 German Open starting today until March 2.
National mixed doubles head coach, Nova Widianto, said his charges, who are the second seeds for the tournament, have a chance to surpass the Super 300-level competition given that not many of the world's top pairs will compete at the Westenergie Sporthalle, Mulheim an der Ruhr.
"We have already anticipated that the German Open would be quite quiet (from world-renowned pairs). This is the time to take the championship.
"So we told them that it's important that you just fight. Fight and the championship will come by itself," he told reporters after a training session here, today.
Pang Ron-Su Yin are scheduled to open their German Open campaign against Koceila Mammeri-Tanina Violette Mammeri from Algeria tomorrow.
The best achievement of the world's 14th pair since being paired in 2023 is emerging as runners-up at the 2024 China Masters, which saw them lose to the home pair of Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping 23-21, 23-25, 16-21.
Meanwhile, Widianto is optimistic that Pang Ron-Su Yin's confidence will soar if they manage to win their first title.
However, the former Indonesian player hopes that they will not be satisfied with just one title and will have a thirst for success in any tournament they participate in.
