KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- The national baseball5 (B5) team is optimistic about winning a medal for the Malaysian contingent at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, scheduled to take place this December.
Team manager, Willieam Mah Choon How, said the confidence is based on the current impressive performance of the national squad, which is now ranked first in Southeast Asia.
The squad is also currently positioned sixth in Asia and 17th in the world.
"Our main target is the SEA Games in Thailand, which is to win a medal. Although the colour of the medal has not yet been determined, we are confident that we can win a medal.
"Certainly, the main challenge will come from the host Thailand and Singapore," he said at handing over of the Jalur Gemilang to the national B5 squad at the National Sports Institute (ISN) in Bukit Jalil, here today.
The national B5 squad will participate in the B5 Youth Asian Cup in Taiwan starting March 11, with the target of being in the top three to qualify for the World Cup in Mexico and next year's Youth Olympics in Senegal.
In the competition in Taiwan, which takes place in a one-round league, the national squad will face Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong and Iraq.
Earlier, the Jalur Gemilang handover ceremony was officiated by the Chief Executive Officer of ISN, Dr P. Vellapandian.
