Reezpiupiu Breaks Barriers: Pioneering Women’s Voice In Esports Commentary

KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- In the fast-paced world of esports, where men often dominate the commentary scene,  Siti Nurizati Jefree is proving that passion and perseverance can break barriers.

Better known as Reezpiupiu, the 24-year-old has made a name for herself with her sharp insights and rapid-fire commentary, earning her the nickname “Eminem of the MLBB Professional League.”

But her journey has not been easy.

Since stepping into esports commentary in 2020, Siti Nurizati has faced scepticism and criticism, with some questioning whether a woman could match the knowledge and skill of her male counterparts.

“People assumed I lacked the expertise and doubted my ability to be a commentator. But I refused to let their words hold me back. Instead of responding with frustration, I let my commentary speak for itself.” she told Bernama.

Through hard work and determination, she silenced her critics, proving that talent knows no gender.

Her dedication has earned her a place among the best in the field. In 2023, she was recognised as Best Mandarin Commentator at the MLBB Academy League Malaysia (MAL) and was entrusted to commentate at the MLBB World Championship.

“At first, I had to work three times harder than others. But now, as more people recognise my abilities, it feels like all the effort was worth it,” she said.

Determined to pave the way for other women, Siti Nurizati is now launching a platform called “SheCasts with Reezpiupiu” to train and mentor aspiring female esports commentators.

“For any woman wanting to step into this field, you don’t need to be perfect - you just need to start. Keep learning, keep practising, and most importantly, believe in your own voice,” she said. 

On this International Women’s Day, her story is a powerful reminder that with passion and perseverance, women can thrive in any industry - even one traditionally dominated by men.
