KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s top women’s doubles shuttler Pearly Tan today received a fruit basket as a token of appreciation from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Pearly shared the gesture on her official Instagram page after announcing yesterday that she was withdrawing from the Uber Cup squad due to a recurring back injury.
Pearly, who was set to partner M. Thinaah at the Uber Cup Finals in Horsens, Denmark, from April 24 to May 3, will be replaced by Chong Jie Yu.
“Thank you for this thoughtful gift. Really appreciate,” said Pearly.
The other women's doubles combinations bound for the Uber Cup Finals are youngsters Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting and Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah.
Malaysia's women’s singles lineup will comprise K. Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Siti Zulaikha Azmi and Goh Jin Wei.
The women’s team have been drawn in Group B of the Uber Cup Finals with Japan, Turkiye and South Africa.
