KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- The chief Key Holder of the Kaaba, Sheikh Saleh Al-Shaibi, has passed away, according to the portal haramain.com.
According to a report shared on the social media platform X on Saturday, the funeral was held at Masjid Al Haram, with the burial at Al Mu’alla Cemetery in Makkah.
For the record, Saleh Al-Shaibi became the caretaker of the Kaaba in 2013 after his uncle, Abdulqader Taha Al-Shaibi, passed away.
At present, the functions of the caretaker are limited to the opening and closing of the Kaaba.
The Royal Court, Interior Ministry and emergency forces will coordinate with him if there are any state guests.
