BUS-TANKER CRASH CLAIMS 18 LIVES IN NORTHERN INDIA

NEW DELHI, July 10 (Bernama) -- At least 18 people lost their lives in a collision between a bus and a milk tanker in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

The accident took place early in the morning on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Unnao district, about 480 km from New Delhi.

The bus was travelling from Bihar to New Delhi, local media reported.

"Today around 5.15 am, a private bus coming from Motihari, Bihar, collided with a milk tanker. Eighteen people have lost their lives and 19 others are injured in the accident," Unnano's top district official Gaurang Rathi said.

A local police official said another 22 bus passengers were unhurt in the crash.

Visuals from the site showed the mangled bus and bodies of passengers and bus parts strewn on the road.
