NEW DELHI, July 13 (Bernama) -- The Maldives will donate US$1.29 million to Palestine through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).
The country pledged the money in a statement delivered on Friday by its permanent representative to the UN, Ali Naseer Mohamed.
The contribution of US$1.29 million includes funds raised recently through a telethon in solidarity with the Palestinians.
The Maldives government has also increased its annual contribution to the UN Relief Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from US$5,000 to US$50,000, the ambassador said.
