PARIS, Aug 11 (Bernama-dpa) -- David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig lived up to their top billing as they gave Sweden a first ever Olympic beach volleyball gold medal on Saturday at the Paris Games, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

The world ranking leaders were never really troubled in a 21-10, 21-13 victory over Germany's Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

It was their 12th victory in 13 meetings of the two teams.

Ehlers and Wickler had beaten Tokyo 2020 champions Anders Berntsen Mol and Christian Sandlie Sörum of Norway for the first time in the semi-finals.

Mol and Sörum finished with bronze, 21-13, 21-16, over Qatar players Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan.
