ASEAN Socio-cultural Community Post-2025 Strategic Plan On Track

JAKARTA, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- The ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Post-2025 strategic plan is progressing smoothly, with significant consultations held to promote a more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous community, according to the co-chairs of the 6th Ad Hoc Working Group Meeting.

The co-chairs stressed the importance of the consultations in keeping the strategic plan relevant and responsive to emerging trends and global developments during the two-day meeting which concluded on Sunday (Aug 26) at ASEAN Headquarters here.

The meeting was led by Khamphou Phiasackha, deputy director-general of international cooperation at Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, and Dr Christina Yeo Ken Yin, undersecretary of international relations at Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

During the meeting, discussions centred on refining the ASCC Post-2025 Strategic Plan to ensure it aligns with broader ASEAN goals and addresses the region’s evolving needs, said the ASEAN Secretariat in a statement.

The agenda tackled cross-cutting issues, including strengthening partnerships and devising strategies to enhance the ASCC’s impact and relevance in the future.

The Secretariat pointed out that the next meeting is set to take place in September 2024 in Laos.

This upcoming session will further develop the strategic plan under the ‘Supporting the Development of the ASCC Post-2025 Strategic Plan’ project, funded by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund 3.0, it added.
