Malaysia's Education System Attracts Growing Number Of Kazakh Students

08/09/2024 11:01 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's reputation for academic excellence, cultural diversity, and affordable living has made it a popular choice for international students.

Kazakhstan, in particular, has shown a growing interest, with the country ranking among the top 10 sources of new applications in 2024, according to Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).

“Since 2020, over 1,900 Kazakh students have applied to study in Malaysia, reflecting a significant increase in interest,” EMGS said in a statement.

EMGS is a company under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), primarily responsible for facilitating visa processing for international students and promoting Malaysia as a global hub for talent and knowledge.

Most recently, Kazakh quadruplets arrived to embark on their academic journey at the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) in Kuala Lumpur, drawn by Malaysia's reputation for cutting-edge innovation and top-tier education.

EMGS marked a milestone by welcoming its first-ever application from 17-year-old international student quadruplets. Zhaiylkhan Zeregul, Zhaiylkhan Alizhan, Zhaiylkhan  Alikhan, and Zhaiylkhan Zaragul will pursue studies in the Foundation in Computing & Technology, Foundation in Engineering, and Foundation in Business & Finance.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of EMGS, Novie Tajuddin, expressed confidence that Malaysia's world-class education system and warm hospitality would offer the quadruplets an unforgettable experience.

“It is a great honour for us to welcome the quadruplets from Kazakhstan to Malaysia for their studies. We warmly welcome them to their new home away from home," he said in a statement.

He added that EMGS, together with the MoHE, is committed to making Malaysia the education hub of choice among international students around the world.

Meanwhile, the CEO of APU, Datuk Parmjit Singh, said the university has welcomed students from Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries for over 20 years.

“Our experience with students from this region has been consistently positive, as they have always made their country proud by being conscientious, mature and cultured,” he said.

“With over 80,000 successful alumni worldwide, I am confident that Alikhan, Alizhan, Zaragul and Zeregul will benefit immensely from their decision to study here.

“We look forward to supporting their transformation into global professionals as they embark on their academic journey at APU and settle into life in Malaysia.”

He added that APU, as the first and only Malaysian university accredited by the UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), has built a strong reputation for academic excellence.
