Singapore’s key exports grew for a second straight month in August, with non-oil domestic exports (Nodx) rising 10.7 per cent year on year.

1. TRADE FAIR IN DECEMBER TO REV ECONOMY -- FRESH NEWS

The Ministry of Commerce will host the Cambodian Import-Export Exhibition on December 3 to 16 — aimed at promoting sustainable development,  boosting job creation and promoting local products. Local and international exhibitors will participate in the 17th edition of the fair.

 

2. PYSCHOSOCIAL TRAINING FOR MINE VICTIMS -- FRESH NEWS

The ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center is hosting the sixth psychological support training of trainers programme to strengthen mental health care for survivors of landmines and explosive ordnance in the region. The five-day training is scheduled from September 16 to 20.

1.INTRA-ASEAN TRADE HIT US$759 BILLION -- VIENTIANE NEWS

Trade among ASEAN members was US$759 billion last year fuelled by lower tariffs and the ASEAN Single Window Tax Notification System. This was announced at the 6th ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting and the 38th ASEAN Free Trade Area Council Meeting in Vientiane on Monday.

 

2. LAOS MARKS WORLD OZONE DAY — VIENTIANE NEWS

The Lao National Ozone Unit commemorated World Ozone Day 2024, observed globally on September 16. This year’s theme — “Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action” —  highlights the critical role of the ozone layer and the global campaign against climate change.

 

MYANMAR

 

   1.   CHEAPER RICE FOR FLOOD DONORS — THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The Myanmar Rice Federation will sell rice bags at a fairer price to philanthropists who donate rice in flood-hit areas. The federation is crowdfunding to support civil service organisations, non-profit organisations and shelter home operators to reach out to rural communities. 

 

   2.   ACTION AGAINST THOSE MANIPULATING PALM OIL PRICES --THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

   Authorities warned palm oil dealers not to manipulate prices and avoid hoarding amid the rising price. Consumers have been advised not to buy at high prices. Local palm oil consumption is roughly one million tonnes per year while production is about 400,000 tonnes.
