NEW YORK, Oct 23 (Bernama-dpa) -- Rudy Giuliani, the disgraced former New York mayor and lawyer for Donald Trump, was ordered by a court to hand over his Manhattan apartment and other luxury items to two election workers he defamed after the US presidential contest in 2020, reported German news agency (dpa).
The ruling by a federal judge in New York also requires Giuliani to give the workers his watch collection and a Mercedes that once belonged to Hollywood actress Lauren Bacall.
In December last year, Giuliani was ordered to pay the two women, a mother and daughter, US$148 million in damages for defamation. They have been trying to collect the money ever since.
Giuliani baselessly claimed that the workers had committed election fraud while they were counting ballots in Fulton County, Georgia, on election day 2020.
The two women became targets of angry Trump supporters after being featured in a video circulating online.
According to the ruling, Giuliani must hand over the apartment within one week. The women then have the right to sell it, their lawyer Aaron Nathan told CNN.
The apartment, featuring a wood-panelled library, is located on New York's Upper East Side near Central Park. Giuliani initially listed it for sale in 2023 for US$6.5 million and later reduced the price to just over US$5 million.
On Tuesday, the judge initially left open whether Giuliani can keep his property in Florida, which he had listed as his residence.
