INDONESIA

1. RI, US AFFIRM RESPECT FOR RIGHTS IN SCS -- THE JAKARTA POST

President Prabowo Subianto and his United States counterpart Joe Biden have underscored their “unwavering support” for upholding freedom of navigation and “respect for sovereign rights and jurisdiction” in their talks on the South China Sea, in a move that appeared to negate a previous statement with China.

 

2. US AGREES TO HELP INDONESIA DEVELOP SMALL NUCLEAR REACTOR -- JAKARTA GLOBE

President Prabowo Subianto has secured his American counterpart Joe Biden’s support to speed up the feasibility study on the development of a small nuclear reactor in Indonesia.

 

CAMBODIA

1. CAMBODIA LOSES 28-YEAR-OLD DOLPHIN - - AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

An old female dolphin was found dead yesterday in Kratie Province— a popular habitat for the mammals. Weighing 115 kg, it is believed to have died of old age. Nine dolphins were born and four died from January to November this year.

 

2. THREE-DAY WATER FESTIVAL BEGINS TODAY -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE

Cambodians will celebrate the three-day annual Water Festival in front of the Royal Palace from 14 to 16 November. About 350 racing boats from different provinces and municipalities across Cambodia will participate in the colourful annual event.

1. FESTIVAL SHOWCASES MADE-IN LAOS PRODUCTS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Laos took advantage of the annual Buddhist festival "That Luang” festival held during the full moon to promote Lao-made goods to local people and foreigners. Small and medium-sized enterprises displayed handicrafts and local cuisine on Wednesday to attract tourists. 

 

2. LAOS TAPS JICA EXPERTISE FOR LEGAL SKILLS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) is training young Lao legal practitioners to develop the necessary legal skills so they can contribute to the rule of law in Laos. JICA guides local students in interpreting legal documents and applying the laws.   

 

VIETNAM

1. ONLINE TRAVEL, E-COMMERCE DRIVING DIGITAL ECONOMY - - VIETNAMNET

E-commerce and online travel segments are driving the country’s robust digital economy which is forecast to touch RM155 billion this year. Online travel is expected to contribute RM22 billion while online media growth is to reach RM26  billion in 2024. 

 

2. GARMENT, TEXTILE EXPORTS HIT RM189 BILLION -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnam is expected to export textiles and garments worth nearly RM189 billion this year as export markets, including ASEAN, are showing steady growth. Lower freight charges and year-end shopping are stimulating its exports.

1. LOY KRATHONG GOES DIGITAL IN BANGKOK TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT -- THE NATION

According to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the event at the Pathum Wan skywalk will be held from Thursday to Friday. The event, which runs from 6pm to 11pm, will highlight projection mapping technology that allows participants to float their krathongs digitally.

International arrivals helped drive the operating results of Thai carriers despite the third quarter coinciding with the low season, but smaller fleets still pressure the aviation industry, resulting in consistently high airfares.

Members of Parliament (MPs) on both sides of the aisle voted on Wednesday (Nov 13) in favour of an amended Progress Singapore Party (PSP) motion to continue the government's support for hawkers and to grow Singapore’s hawker culture.
