Leicester City Sacks Coach Cooper

25/11/2024 11:29 AM

LONDON, Nov 25 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Leicester City sacked coach Steve Cooper on Sunday after just 12 games in charge.

Leicester won two of Cooper's 12 games at the helm, drawing four and losing six. The former Nottingham Forest boss leaves with the recently promoted club sitting in 16th place in the Premier League after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Chelsea, who is now coached by Cooper's predecessor in Leicester, Enzo Maresca.

Cooper was appointed after Maresca left to take over at Stamford Bridge with the difficult task of leading Leicester to survival, and he leaves with the outfit sitting just outside the relegation zone.

"Men's first team training will be overseen by first team coach Ben Dawson, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the club begins the process of appointing a new manager, which we hope to conclude as soon as possible," read the Leicester statement.
