MOSCOW, Jan 14 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Data on the missions of French nuclear submarines has leaked online after sailors serving on them publicly shared their sports activities through the Strava app, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

Le Monde newspaper on Monday reported that one of the sailors, for example, shared his running session with the date and route along the piers where the submarines are moored, adding that "it is difficult to return to sports after 2.5 months in a ‘box."

Thus, the overlapping training schedules of at least three sailors, which abruptly stopped and resumed after one and a half to two months, made it possible to identify the probable dates and duration of missions, the report read.

One of the most secret naval bases is located on the island of Ile Longue off the Atlantic coast of France near Brest, the newspaper reported. It is home to the naval component of the French nuclear deterrent: four nuclear submarines, each capable of carrying 16 missiles with nuclear warheads.
