MOSCOW, Jan 18 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- SpaceX chief executive and technology tycoon Elon Musk promised on Saturday to help the incoming US administration fix the governmental IT (information technology) systems after a major Treasury hack was reported, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"My goal is to fix government IT! This is harder than getting a rocket to orbit," Musk said on X.
On Dec 8, the US Treasury Department was informed by software firm BeyondTrust that hackers had acquired a security key it used to provide technical support remotely, enabling them access to several Treasury workstations and their documents, The New York Times newspaper reported. Some 419 Treasury computers were hacked, but only unclassified files were reportedly affected.
On Jan 15, Politico news website reported that hackers had gained access to more than 3,000 documents of high-ranking US officials, including Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. The publication attributed the hack to China, which denied any involvement.
