Saudi Arabia Plans US$600 Billion Investment To Enhance US Ties

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- Saudi Arabia is looking to broaden investments and trade with the United States (US) over the next four years, amounting to US$600 billion, and potentially beyond.

According to a report by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this was among the topics discussed by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman during a phone call with US President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday evening.

The two leaders also deliberated on avenues for cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the US to promote peace, security, and stability in the Middle East, in addition to enhancing bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism.

They also discussed ways to deepen ties in various areas, and the Crown Prince noted the US administration’s ability to create unprecedented economic prosperity and opportunity through anticipated reforms in the United States.

He added that the Kingdom seeks to participate in these opportunities for partnership and investment.

During the call, the Crown Prince conveyed the congratulations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and extended his personal congratulations to the President on  his inauguration as President of the United States. He also wished the American people greater progress and prosperity under the President's leadership.

Trump expressed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for their felicitations. He reaffirmed his commitment to working with the Kingdom on all matters that benefit the interests of both countries.
