KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- Submissions for the ongoing 11th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest for Young Photographers are open until Feb 28, according to Russia’s Rossiya Segodnya media group.
The contest, held in memory of Rossiya Segodnya photojournalist Andrei Stenin, who tragically died in 2014 near Donetsk, traditionally begins on his birthday, Dec 22.
According to a statement by Rossiya Segodnya, photo professionals aged 18 to 33 can submit entries via the contest's website in Russian at http://stenincontest.ru or in English at https://stenincontest.com
The contest features five categories: Top News; Sports; My Planet; Portrait. Hero of Our Time; and Top View.
The 2025 contest prize fund will award RUB 125,000 (US$1,284) for first place, RUB 100,000 (US$1,027) for second, and RUB 75,000 (US$770) for third in each category. The recipient of the contest's highest honour, the Grand Prix, will receive RUB 700,000 (US$7,188).
The award ceremony for the 11th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest is scheduled to take place in Moscow between September and October 2025, it said.
Stenin, who went missing while on a business trip in eastern Ukraine in August 2014, was later confirmed to have died when his car was shelled and burned on a motorway near Donetsk.
The curator of the Andrei Stenin contest, Oksana Oleinik, said that, as with previous editions, the contest anticipates a significant number of fascinating entries from young photojournalists despite challenges in today’s world.
“The global photography community remains steadfast in its commitment to professional integrity, undeterred by any political impediments,” she said.
Winning entries will be displayed in exhibitions across Russian and international cities.
Since its inception, the exhibitions have toured countries such as China, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Turkiye, Lebanon, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Poland and Egypt.
