1. INSURANCE INDUSTRY SEES GROWTH POTENTIAL -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE
The Insurance Regulator of Cambodia said the industry registered a gross premium of RM1.6 billion (US$356.4 million) last year, an increase of 3.5 per cent compared to a year before. The market has 18 general insurance companies and 14 life insurers.

The Cambodian Mine Action Centre temporarily suspended demining in eight provinces following the United States' decision to halt overseas assistance. Removing unexploded land mines has been suspended from January 25 until further notice.

A technical glitch on Google’s currency converter on Saturday caused widespread confusion as it displayed an inaccurate rupiah exchange rate of Rp 8,170 per US dollar. The rate was significantly lower than the official exchange rates published by Bank Indonesia (BI) and financial data providers.

The world’s rare bird species like migratory water birds, forest birds, and Himalayan vultures or Himalayan griffon vultures, reside in the Mandalay Region. About 1,000 birds of over 20 species of migratory water birds and forest birds are spotted near the Kyetmauktaung dam.
