MOSCOW, Feb 4 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The United Kingdom is preparing retaliatory measures if US President Donald Trump introduces tariffs on British products, the Financial Times reported on Monday, citing an unnamed British official, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Trump has previously repeatedly threatened to introduce tariffs against the EU and did not rule out introducing them on UK goods.
"We are prepared," the British official told the newspaper.
"We are looking forward to working closely with President Trump but ministers will always do what is best in the national interest."
Earlier, Trump signed executive orders introducing tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China. Trump later announced a month-long waiver on tariffs on Mexico after the latter had agreed to send 10,000 troops to the southern border of the United States to combat drug trafficking and the flow of undocumented migrants.
