PHNOM PENH, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Shaharuddin Onn was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Law Degree by the Asia Euro University on Wednesday.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet presented the doctorate to Shaharuddin during Asia Euro University’s graduation ceremony which was held at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.
The honorary doctorate was awarded for his significant contributions to enhancing the bilateral relations between Cambodia and Malaysia.
Shaharuddin, a veteran diplomat and a law graduate, is also active in promoting cordial ties between the local business sector and community, including talks at the university.
“The conferment was not only a personal honour to me but also to Malaysia. It is indeed a reflection of the special, long-standing and strong friendship between Malaysia and Cambodia.
“I am even more encouraged and determined to work even harder to propel further the already excellent relations between Malaysia and Cambodia in all aspects, namely government-to-government, business-to-business and people-to-people,” he said.
