JAKARTA, May 24 (Bernama) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang is due to meet President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Sunday, having arrived here on Saturday for a three-day official visit aimed at further reinforcing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
“The two leaders will engage in a tête-à-tête and a bilateral meeting with their respective delegations,” said Indonesian Presidential Secretariat Protocol, Press, and Media Bureau (BPMI) deputy Yusuf Permana, in a statement.
The meeting is expected to conclude with the signing of a memorandum of understanding covering key areas of cooperation, followed by a joint press statement highlighting the outcomes of the talks.
Earlier, Li was welcomed on arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base by Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani; Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong; and Indonesian Ambassador to China, Jauhari Oratmangun.
His official programme began on Saturday evening with a meeting with Indonesian business leaders, and he is also scheduled to hold several internal meetings with his delegation during the visit.
“Indonesia and China have maintained diplomatic relations for over 70 years. The two countries share close economic ties, with cooperation spanning trade, investment, infrastructure, and energy,” the statement read.
