RIYADH, May 28 (Bernama-SPA) -- Over 1.18 million pilgrims from around the world have arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of the Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) according to the General Directorate of Passports.
The directorate reported that as of the end of Tuesday, a total of 1,180,306 pilgrims had entered the Kingdom through its air, land and sea entry points.
Of this figure, 1,115,663 pilgrims arrived via airports, while 60,365 entered through land border crossings, and 4,278 through seaports.
The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating smooth entry procedures for pilgrims, highlighting the deployment of advanced technologies and trained multilingual staff across all international ports.
Meanwhile, in a separate announcement, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia declared that Wednesday, 1 Dhul-Hijjah 1446H (May 28), marks the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, the final month in the Islamic calendar.
The court confirmed that the Day of Arafah will fall on Thursday, 9 Dhul-Hijjah (June 5), followed by the celebration of Eid al-Adha on Friday, June 6.
