JAKARTA, July 8 (Bernama) -- Two coaches from Malaysia have been confirmed to join the football club Persis Solo as a strategic move to strengthen the club’s coaching staff in the Indonesian Liga 1 ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
Mohamad Zulhazman Zulazwar has been appointed as assistant coach, and Khairulanwar Md Isa as fitness coach, following the appointment of Peter de Roo as head coach on June 27.
A match analyst and holder of the AFC ‘A’ coaching licence, Mohamad Zulhazman has previously served with Kedah FA, Selangor FC, the Malaysian national squad, and Police Tero FC in Thailand.
He also worked with Peter de Roo when de Roo was the technical director of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), according to the club’s post on the platform X.
“I am honoured to join Persis and to reunite with Coach Peter. I believe in the club’s vision and am ready to give my full commitment,” said Zulhazman.
Khairulanwar, who has experience in fitness and sports science with Selangor FC, Felcra FC, and Kuala Lumpur City FC, is now making his first professional appearance abroad.
“I am excited to join Persis. This is a new challenge and I am ready to adapt to Solo’s football culture,” he said.
Both coaches will begin their duties soon to prepare for the club’s preseason training based in Solo, also known as Surakarta, located in Central Java.
Founded in 1923, the club that plays at the 20,000-seat Manahan Stadium finished 7th last season and successfully secured third place in the President’s Cup.
The Indonesian Liga 1 2025-26 season is set to start on August 8 and conclude on May 10, 2026, including a mid-season break from December 7 to 19 to accommodate the SEA Games in Thailand.
