WASHINGTON, July 15 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he struck a "great" trade deal with Indonesia following direct negotiations with President Prabowo Subianto, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.
"Great deal, for everybody, just made with Indonesia. I dealt directly with with (sic) their highly respected President," Trump said on social media.
Additional details on the purported agreement were not immediately available, but the announcement comes two weeks before the US president's Aug 1 deadline for nations to strike new trade agreements with Washington or face heightened tariffs.
The deadline was supposed to have been July 9, but the White House pushed it back to give negotiators more time.
Peter Navarro, Trump's trade advisor, said in April after Trump announced his tariff push that the administration would seek to conclude "90 deals in 90 days," but that goal has proved illusory. Two nations, the UK and Vietnam, have concluded interim trade deals with Trump.
Many of the details on the agreements, however, remain to be negotiated.
