INDONESIA

 

1.TRUMP DEAL GEOPOLITICAL CHALLENGE FOR INDONESIA -- THE JAKARTA POST

A celebratory and hopeful tone has been raised over the United States’ decision to lower Indonesia’s trade tariff to 19 per cent, but analysts have warned that the country may still face tricky situations ahead as nonaligned Jakarta works to rebalance ties with other key economic partners.

 

2.INDONESIA'S US-BACKED REFINERIES TO PROCESS IMPORTED AMERICAN OIL -- JAKARTA GLOBE

Indonesia is opening its doors to major refinery investments from the US to be able to process the mass US crude that Jakarta will import, according to Danantara’s boss, Rosan Roeslani. Danantara, the country’s sovereign fund, is planning to partner with American engineering company KBR to set up 17 modular refineries throughout Indonesia.

The government confirmed that elections will be held in December this year. Efforts are being made to ensure that all eligible voters participate in the polls. Early voting will also be available for a specific segment of voters.

 

2.CHILDREN UNDERGOING HEART SURGERIES -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Myanmar and Vietnam paediatric cardiologists performed complex open-heart surgeries to treat congenital heart diseases in 17 children. The surgeries are being done at the Yangon Children’s Hospital. All the surgeries were successful.

1.WATER SUPPLY ISSUES DURING TOA PAYOH BLAZE AFFECTED FIREFIGHTING OPERATIONS; SCDF INVESTIGATING -- THE STRAITS TIMES

The dry rising main at Block 229 Toa Payoh Lorong 8 was not in proper working condition when the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fought the blaze there on July 29.

1.VIETNAM, MALAYSIA LEADERS DISCUSS REGIONAL ISSUES -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a telephone conversation on July 30 to discuss regional and bilateral issues. Anwar briefed the Vietnamese leader on the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.

The corporate bond market has been pivotal in providing medium and long-term capital for infrastructure development to support economic growth. The newly issued bonds reached RM43  billion (US$10 billion) in the first half of 2025.
