JAKARTA, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s National Police arrested two civil servants in Aceh on Tuesday over alleged involvement in a terrorist network, officials said.
The arrests were carried out by the elite counter-terrorism unit Densus 88, which also conducted searches at several locations suspected of being used for terrorist activities or to store materials linked to terrorism offences.
Aceh police spokesperson Commissioner Joko Krisdiyanto confirmed that the suspects were taken into custody. However, he declined to comment on the specific allegations.
“For now, we’re awaiting further reports from the Densus 88 regional task force in Aceh, including updates on legal proceedings,” he said in a statement.
The two individuals, identified by their initials as MZ, aged 40, a civil servant at the Aceh Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and ZA, aged 47, who works for the Banda Aceh City Tourism Office, were taken into custody in separate operations.
MZ was arrested at a coffee shop in the city, while ZA was detained at a car showroom in the Batoh area.
