CAMBODIA 

 

1. JAPAN-FUNDED TAKHMAU WATER TREATMENT PLANT -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE

The Japan-financed Takhmau Water Treatment Plant, situated in Takhmau City, Kandal Province, is scheduled to be inaugurated today.  Built by a Japanese consortium, it will be managed for 10 years before being handed over to the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority.  

2. WEEKEND SMOKING BAN IN CITY WALKWAY -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

Authorities have banned smoking in the city’s Walk Street area to promote green environment and healthy lifestyle. Tobacco advertising, sale of traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vapes, heated tobacco products and shisha are prohibited.

 

LAOS

 

1. TURKEY BOLSTERING EDUCATION TIES WITH LAO -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Turkey is promoting education in Lao with the establishment of the Lao-Turkish friendship school in Vientiane It also plans to renovate Phonpapao kindergarten in Sisattanak district as part of its bilateral commitment.  

2 .NEW METHOD TO OVERCOME OPIOID ADDICTION -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Laos has introduced the Naltrexone Implant, a long-term treatment for drug dependents. It can prevent relapse, reduce cravings and help dependents towards recovery. The implant was developed by the Shenzhen ScienCare Pharmaceutical company.

 

MYANMAR

 

1. BUFFET TO MARK WORLD ELEPHANT DAY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Camps celebrated World Elephant Day by hosting an elaborate buffet for the mammals. The Wingabaw camp in Bago region and the Palin Kanthaya camp in Mandalay held special events to mark the day.  

2. APRIL-JULY FISH EXPORTS REACHED 81,000 TONNES -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar exported nearly 81,000 tonnes of fish worth RM404 million (US$96 million) from April to July. Seafood is shipped to 40 countries, including China, Thailand, Bangladesh and Japan, via sea and border trade channels.

The Philippines and Laos conveyed eagerness to deepen cooperation in trade, defense and security, and economic relations in their third high-level talks held in Manila, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.
