JAKARTA, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- A helicopter carrying eight people lost contact on Monday in Tanah Bumbu regency, South Kalimantan province, according to Indonesia’s national search and rescue agency.
Banjarmasin Basarnas spokesperson Aris Maulana said search teams had been deployed to the area to look for the eight – the pilot, an engineer, and six passengers.
“So far there is no information on survivors or fatalities,” he said in a statement on Monday.
The Airbus MBB BK117-D3, operated by Eastindo Air, departed Kota Baru Airport at 8.46 am local time for Palangkaraya and was due to arrive at 10.15 am.
“The helicopter last made radio contact eight minutes after take-off, before disappearing from radar,” Aris added.
Its last known position was about four kilometres from Mandin Damar Waterfall in Mantewe district, a remote zone of low hills and dense tropical forest.
