CIA Agent Aldrich Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Spying For Moscow, Dies In US Prison

WASHINGTON, Jan 7 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Former CIA counterintelligence officer Aldrich Ames, sentenced to life imprisonment for collaborating with Moscow, has died in a US prison at the age of 84, Sputnik/RIA Novosti revealed on Wednesday.

"Deceased: 01/05/2026," the US Federal Bureau of Prisons said in response to a request for information about Aldrich.

Aldrich was sentenced in 1994 to life imprisonment on charges of spying for the USSR and Russia.

He worked for the CIA for more than 30 years, reportedly collaborating with Moscow for more than nine of them.
