BEIJING, March 8 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Relations between China and the United States affect the entire world, and a lack of cooperation will only lead to misunderstanding and confrontations, further harming peace, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at his annual press conference on Sunday.
"Relations between China and the US affect the interests of many parties and have an impact on the entire world. If the two countries do not cooperate, it will only lead to misunderstanding, misjudgments, conflicts, confrontations, and further damage to peace," Wang Yi said.
The press conference by the Chinese foreign minister is being held on the sidelines of the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), the country's highest legislative body, which is being held in Beijing from March 5 to 12.
He said Beijing and Moscow have a strategic consensus on major international and regional issues.
"On major international and regional issues, China and Russia share a strategic consensus and have the closest strategic cooperation," Wang Yi said.
China and Russia also respect each other's interests and adhere to the principles of non-alignment and non-confrontation.
"We always respect each other's core interests, do not impose our will and agenda on each other, and adhere to the principles of non-alignment and non-targeting of third parties," the Chinese foreign minister said.
China and Russia do not resort to external provocations or pressure, demonstrating high strategic stability, Wang Yi noted.
"These relations [between Russia and China] have been based on equality, respect, and mutual benefit from the very beginning," the minister said.
China and Russia are strategically independent and autonomous and maintain a high level of mutual trust, he stated.
The press conference by the Chinese foreign minister is taking place during the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), the country's highest legislative body, which is being held in Beijing from March 5 to 12.
