LOS ANGELES, March 9 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Disney and Pixar's animated film "Hoppers" took the top spot at the North American box office with an estimated three-day cumulative gross of US$46 million in its opening weekend, according to figures released by Comscore on Sunday, reported Xinhua.
The all-new feature film also earned an estimated US$42 million overseas, pushing its global total to US$88 million.
"Hoppers" holds a positive approval rating of 94 per cent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes currently and received an "A" grade from audiences on an "A+" to "F" scale polled by CinemaScore.
Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group's slasher film "Scream 7" came in second with US$17.3 million in its second weekend.
The film has grossed US$93.4 million in North America and US$149.5 million worldwide through Sunday.
Rounding out the top three, sci-fi horror film "The Bride!" opened this weekend to a debut of US$7.26 million.
