Poland To Lower Fuel Prices Amid West Asia Tension

27/03/2026 03:02 PM

WARSAW, March 27 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Thursday announced a series of measures aimed at lowering fuel prices amid soaring global energy costs triggered by the West Asia conflict, reported Xinhua.

Poland will cut value-added tax (VAT) on fuel from 23 per cent to eight per cent and reduce excise duties to the minimum level allowed under European Union rules, Tusk said at a press conference.

Fuel prices are expected to fall by approximately 1.2 zloty (US$0.32) per litre across all fuel types, he added.

The government will also introduce maximum fuel prices per litre, to be set daily by the energy minister, Tusk said.

Parliament is expected to pass the necessary legislation on Friday, allowing the measures to be sent to the president for signing, he said.
