BERLIN, April 6 (Bernama-dpa) -- Tadej Pogačar won the 2026 Tour of Flanders on Sunday to claim his second Monument of the year, reported German Press Agency (dpa).

The Slovenian lived up to his favourite status with a dominant solo finish ahead of Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel, securing a second consecutive victory in the one-day race in 6 hours, 20 minutes and seven seconds.

"It was a really crazy race today, I don't know what to say – super hard from I don't know which kilometre," Pogačar told Belgian TV afterwards.

"It was a waiting game, then when the group formed, I was happy we kind of cooperated, and it was in my favour."

Belgium's Remco Evenepoel was third in his Tour of Flanders debut, while compatriot Wout van Aert drew a huge cheer from the home crowd as he crossed the line in fourth place.

Last month, Pogačar won the Milan-San Remo and has now claimed 12 Monuments in his career.

The Monuments are five classic cycling one-day races considered the oldest, hardest and most prestigious. The next one is the Paris–Roubaix on April 12.
